February 11, 2013, LONGMONT, Colo. – Parascript®, LLC, a leading machine print, handprint and cursive recognition technology provider, is today announcing it has joined the Laserfiche Professional Developer Partnership (PDP) program. As part of the partnership, Parascript’s FormXtra® software will now integrate with Laserfiche technology to enable recognition of cursive, as well as hand-printed, information from paper forms. The integration will give value added resellers; enterprises; federal, state and local governments access to, often untapped and frequently the most challenging, information to be recognized from paper documents at a much lower cost than with manual entry.
“While we have found, from experience and research with AIIM, that the majority of businesses do perform document capture, most do not automate hand print or cursive recognition of data on business forms, choosing instead to key in valuable information — an expensive alternative — or to not capture it at all, leaving much of this data untapped,” said Dwayne Ritchie, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Parascript. “This is important information that we can help integrators and enterprises to better leverage. We see our partnership with Laserfiche, a leader in the content management space, to be a huge opportunity to expand the reach of Parascript’s software and what we do best, in recognizing some of the most difficult to read information.”
Parascript’s FormXtra recognizes information on structured and semi-structured documents and uses advanced location techniques to identify data for recognition and extraction on any page within a batch. It can process images that do not perfectly match a pre-defined template, such as scaled-down faxes, increasing accuracy, flexibility and ease of integration in forms processing.
FormXtra will be integrated with Laserfiche production-level capture tools, designed to automatically read precise pieces of information from paper and electronic documents in high-volume environments, turning unstructured information into viable, actionable resources. By improving the speed and accuracy of repetitive manual processes, automated recognition helps to conserve staff time and IT resources.
The integration is further simplified through FormXtra’s new Hot Folder capabilities that enable reseller and technology providers to more easily couple their technologies with Parascript. The combined solution will be available through Laserfiche’s network of more than 1,200 value added resellers worldwide.
“Our goal is to bring more value to the Laserfiche community, and we created the PDP Program to provide more options for our customers,” said Tom Wayman, vice president of product strategy at Laserfiche. “Parascript is an excellent option for Laserfiche customers that are looking at enhancing their systems through cursive handwriting recognition.”
Parascript recently attended the Empower 2013 Laserfiche Institute Conference earlier this month in Anaheim, where it demonstrated its handwriting recognition technology to nearly 1,700 attendees. For more information please email [email protected].
