Announcing FormXtra 5.4
Today, Parascript announced FormXtra® and FormXtra Capture 5.4. If you’ve been watching the evolution of our FormXtra technology, we are particularly excited about this release. Most significantly, it represents the joining of many discrete and powerful competencies into a unified software solution for document capture.
Below is a summary of the changes, and what to expect next.
First however, we are often asked; why is FormXtra different than other capture solutions? We’d like to offer these four reasons:
- Multitude of datatypes: FormXtra can read machine print (OCR), handprint (constrained ICR), handwriting / handscript (unconstrained ICR), MICR, barcodes and OMR marks from one engine.
- Multitude of document types and functions: By unifying Parascript technologies, FormXtra can process more information on a much broader set of documents, including checks. The software can also locate different elements on documents, such as signatures that need to be extracted and/or validated, or handwritten phrases found in the margins.
- Amazingly efficient keying: while hardly sexy, user feedback is that our keying/validation tool is extremely efficient; where efficiency counts the most. It also enables security, i.e. where HIPAA or PCI complicance are required; by enabling validation of only the field in question without exposint the rest of the document.
- Value: With the ability to harvest more data from more sources at a very competitive price, FormXtra enables organizations to feed their data and compliance needs from a single solution.
FormXtra / FormXtra Capture Evolution Comparison
First, if you’re wondering what the difference is between the two products: FormXtra is a developer platform, and FormXtra Capture is a capture solution with workflow, administration, and keying.
Here’s a table outlining the changes over the course of 2013. These changes focus on the evolution of our solution application, which contains most of the elements of our development platform (SDK) with the addition of workflow, administration and keying:
Product Version | Capabilities / Added | Useful Applications |
