Image capture is the first step to successful document recognition. Image capture might not be under your control, but if it is, here are 3 simple rules to follow:
- Use capture-software preferred specs:
- 200 – 300 DPI
- Uncompressed .TIFF format
- Black and white instead of color
- Avoid when scanning:
- Skewed images
- Scaling images
- Utilize state-of-the-art software features when the source image is not very good to begin with:
- Use image cleanup if available on the scanner (VRS for example)
