Today, advanced capture offers new ways to access document-based data that can significantly accelerate your organization’s digital transformation. Tasks such as handwritten data extraction and exception handling can be automated with higher accuracy than ever before. Conducting a Proof of Concept (PoC) allows you to test these capabilities tailored to your organization’s specific digital transformation needs.
Digital transformation can mean different things to different organizations. For some, it might mean taking the first steps to reduce the dependency on paper and manual workflow. For others, it may be the pursuit of an entirely redefined way of doing business that leverages the latest advancements in automation and machine learning.
Reaching those goals will be a digital transformation journey that requires thoughtful strategies that will lead us to improvements, innovation and superior organizational performance. Without a clear path forward that validates our assumptions and maps our way, however, it is much less likely that we’ll arrive at our destination.
This is the subject of an upcoming Parascript webinar, hosted by AIIM International called “Five Key Factors for Document Automation PoC Success” being held on October 16, 2019. You can register here.
I will be hosting the discussion featuring Richard Medina, Co-Founder of DocuLabs, who will explore how to use a Proof of Concept (PoC) as an essential tool to get the most out of document automation and intelligent information management. The webinar will cover how a PoC differs from a simple evaluation, the most important factors to consider, and how to conduct a successful PoC to evaluate document automation tools and get the results you need.
Understanding How Organizations Leverage Capture
This discussion is important since earlier this year Parascript partnered with AIIM to conduct a “Leaders in Capture” survey. The annual survey works to better understand how organizations are using advanced data capture techniques currently and where they are headed with their information management plans and strategies. The findings are rooted in the day-to-day struggles and real-world success experienced in organizations in a number of core industries.
According to AIIM research a majority of organizations today are moving away from paper to a more digitally focused approach. The annual Leaders in Capture survey found that 70% of survey respondents indicate that they plan to expand document automation to include more digitally-born documents this year. And 41% said they plan to more fully embrace electronic forms.

By launching a PoC, you can see how specific advanced capture technologies work within your production environment, how long it takes to configure the system and get fully up-and-running as well as analyze the accuracy of the results based upon your specific document data sets.
